Climate Leaders @ Penn (CL@P) is the only UPenn organization that brings together grad students interested in the climate space from across the university. Created in 2019, CL@P launched its fellowship in 2021 bringing together 21 fellows from 7 different schools. CL@P is now looking for its 2022-2023 board to define and execute its vision, deliver its second full-year, in-person fellowship, and expand our reach across campus by growing membership. See roles available below. Alumni from the organization have gone on to intern and work in exciting roles in the climate space. These include positions in hot cleantech startups (Form Energy), cleantech VC (Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Energy Impact Partners) and hedge funds (Andurand Capital Management, Terra Alpha Investments) and other climate-focused companies (BloombergNEF, Philadelphia Energy Authority, EDF Climate Corps).
For more information on CL@P, the fellowship and/or the board positions, check-out our website or contact Warren Ndlovu (ndlovuwa@sas.upenn.edu).
Roles:
Finance & Sponsorships
As CL@P moves into its third full-year, a great finance & sponsorships board member will be required to raise and manage the budget required for our ambitious plans. This will be a great opportunity to interact with a number of potential partners and help establish CL@P’s fellowship and membership offerings.
Masterclasses
Central to the Fellowship is the opportunity to learn from key speakers from within industry, faculty and other organizations. The selected candidate will be in charge of leveraging the CL@P and UPenn network to identify potential speakers, secure them and manage the Masterclasses – and therefore ensuring the Fellowship is a success.
Membership
One of our priorities this year is to develop our broader member community and engagement. This role will be key in shaping our strategy and outreach to members beyond the fellows, including talks, socials, communications (together with VP of Marketing) and partnerships with other climate-related student groups at UPenn.
Happiness & Social Life
As CL@P chairs, we want to ensure the happiness of our fellows and members at large! The selected candidate will be in charge of making this happen. This will involve a thriving social agenda, but also entail catering to broader needs of our members including working with the Fellow Liaison and supporting on happiness related queries across the club.
Marketing
The selected candidate will be in charge of CL@P’s weekly newsletter, our Social Media channels and managing the organization’s email account. As such, this candidate will be at the forefront of our outreach activities and have a great part in CL@P’s success for the coming academic year.
