Master of Laws '23 Master of International Mgmt., Sustainability '23 Johan B. Stagstrup is a dual degree LLM and MA International Management and Sustainability Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Sciences Po Paris. At Penn Law, he serves as an International Associate Editor for the Journal of International Law and as LLM representative for the Environmental Law Project. Prior to Penn, Johan worked at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg. He is interested in international environmental law, climate litigation, and the theoretical questions that arise from courts’ engagement with the environment.

Master of Social Policy '22 Morgan Allgrove-Hodges (she/her) is a second-year master's student in Social Policy from Hartford, Connecticut. She focuses on urban inequalities, sustainability, and transit policy. She believes transit is a critical way to improve racial and economic equities in cities and a powerful tool for mitigating climate change. She is excited to be a part of the interdisciplinary cohort of CL@P to exchange ideas with peers across the university. She also works at the Penn LGBT Center and a rock climbing gym.

Katherine Magee is a second-year MBA student at Wharton where she is pursuing a major in Business, Energy, Environment, and Sustainability. Before Wharton, Katherine worked at Bain & Company as a Consultant where here work was split between Bain’s Private Equity Group and Bain’s Performance Improvement Group. Outside of Bain, Katherine also worked at a climate-tech start-up that utilized AI/ML to improve the profitability of batteries and renewables. This past summer, Katherine worked for ExxonMobil where her work focused on developing a strategy to manage risks in the energy transition and accelerate ExxonMobil’s Low Carbon Solutions business unit. Going forward, Katherine is interested in the intersection of business, policy, and technology to accelerate the energy transition while prioritizing energy justice. Katherine holds a BA and BBA from the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with honors.

Anushka Samant is a graduate student in the City Planning program at the Weitzman School of Design studying technology, climate, and cities. She is interested in high-density settlements, resiliency planning, cultural geographies, and investigating the intersection of the built environment and ecology. Before coming to Penn, she worked as an urban researcher on issues related to housing, social equity, and climate justice with communities that are victims of socio-spatial discrimination. In her free time, she experiments with data visualization to communicate urban and climate policies and discourse through mixed media.

Alexa Ringer is currently pursuing a Masters degree in City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. Her concentration is in Land Use and Environmental Planning, and she is interested in the impacts of sprawl on urban environments & mobility. She is also a planning consultant at Make Communities, a small firm in Buffalo, NY focused on racial equity and access, where she provides technical assistance and strategic planning to community nonprofits and land trusts. Work she has done has included outdoor programming with Girl Scouts, implementing community engagement for a regional bicycle master plan, and developing a High Line project. Prior to her matriculation at Penn, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the University at Buffalo. While living in Western New York, she worked at a bicycle shop and led bike rides for trans, women, and nonbinary cyclists.

Jia Yang Kwok is a graduate student in the Master of City Planning program at the School of Design. He is interested in the climate change adaptation and resilience of Southeast Asian cities, especially in the fields of climate finance and technology. Jia Yang received a BA from Yale-NUS College, majoring in Anthropology and holding a minor in Urban Studies.

Emily Parrish is currently pursuing her MBA at The Wharton School with a major in Finance. Emily began her career in public sector consulting following her graduation from Texas A&M University with honors. Emily then worked for a UCLA-affiliated nonprofit, Project on Resources & Governance, while living in Sierra Leone for six months. She collaborated closely with Sierra Leone’s National Minerals Agency to address corruption in the minerals sector nationwide. Most recently, Emily was with International Finance Corporation, the private sector investing arm of the World Bank Group. Emily implemented a methodology that measures the trade-offs of financial returns and development impact for IFC’s investment portfolio. Emily is interested in utilizing investment to promote equitable clean energy transition.

Sheila Garcia is a second-year MBA student at The Wharton School, where she is majoring in Business, Energy, Environment, and Sustainability. Prior to Wharton, Sheila played multiple roles in the energy sector. First, she was a marketer at EnterSolar, a commercial solar division of EDF Renewables. Then she became the Vice President of Young Professionals in Energy NYC, where she executed a variety of educational energy events. Finally, she was an analyst at Indigo Advisory Group, where she developed AI/ML technology proposals for electric utilities. This past summer, Sheila was an ESG associate at Albertsons, a grocery-retailer. She primarily focused on packaging data and supplier insights. Sheila plans to pursue a career in corporate ESG and environmental justice.

CeCe Coffey is a second year law student and also is pursuing the Kleinman Center’s Certificate in Energy Management and Policy. At the law school, CeCe is focusing her coursework on energy law, with a specific emphasis on energy market regulation. Prior to starting school at Penn, CeCe worked for six years in the energy field, including spending four years working on energy and capacity market design and transmission planning at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Outside of school, CeCe stays involved with the Princeton Internships in Civic Service program and the Clean Energy Leadership Institute. She spends her free time playing water polo, downhill skiing, and patronizing Amtrak. CeCe earned an AB in Public & International Affairs at Princeton University.

Master of Spatial Analytics ‘23 Jack Rummler is a Master of Urban Spatial Analytics student in the Weitzman School of Design. He aspires to work at the intersection of climate resiliency and spatial data analysis, with research interests in coastal resilience, land use change, and international climate change policy. He has previously worked in county-level community development, political advocacy and campaigning, and completed research in the fields of multi-modal transportation methods and impacts, and city-level resilience planning. PhD Chemistry ‘25 Maura Gibbs is a third-year PhD student and a Vagelos Institute of Energy Science and Technology (VIEST) graduate fellow in the Department of Chemistry at Penn. Her research focuses on developing catalysts for the dehydrogenation of polyolefins, with an ultimate goal of allowing upcycling of discarded plastic to more valuable specialty polymers. Her professional interests include stormwater management and clean water access. Prior to Penn, Hannah worked as a landscape designer creating public spaces for all.

Jeromy Gotschall
Doctor of Medicine ‘24 Jeromy Gotschall is a fourth year M.D. student and Health Disparities Research Fellow in the Takeshita Lab at the Perelman School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology. His research explores how urban environmental inequities and policies of institutionalized racism, such as redlining, shape disparities in chronic inflammatory skin disease. He is passionate about promoting greenspaces as public health resources, understanding the interaction between environmental pollutants and health, and reducing the carbon footprint of medical institutions.
Prior to medical school, Jeromy completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Colombia and holds a B.A. in neuroscience from Northwestern University. He plays in the Philadelphia Stonewall LGBTQ+ kickball league and loves learning new languages. |
Victoria Fethke
Master of Mechanical Engineering ‘23 Victoria Fethke is a second-year Accelerated Master student in Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics with a concentration in Energy Engineering as well as a fourth-year Bachelor student in Physics. She works as an Energy Consultant at Venture Lab and as a Graduate Student Fellow at the Singh Center for Nanotechnology. Outside of class, she is involved with researching Energy Policy at Perry World House and working on climate career development at Penn Climate Ventures. Master of Integrated Product Design '23 Aaron Katz is a 1st year Master's student in the Integrated Product Design (IPD) program. His interests lie at the intersection of product innovation and user experience, with an emphasis on climate sustainability. PhD, Materials Science '22 Alexandre Foucher is a Ph.D. student in materials science at the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He received a combined BS/MS in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France, in 2017. His research focuses on in situ diagnostics using transmission electron microscopy to understand novel materials for sustainable catalysis.

Master of Building Design '22 Alicia Van der Stighelen is a Research Assistant and graduate student in the Master of Environmental Building Design (MEBD) program. She is an upcoming associate at Boston Consulting Group where she interned this past summer. She is passionate about the sustainable transformation of the construction and energy sector, focusing on cleantech implementation and adaptive reuse of the existing built environment. Alicia holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Architecture from KU Leuven, Belgium. During her Master’s, she went on exchange to Tsinghua University in China and spent two months in Greece conducting thesis field research on disaster resilience. In her free time, Alicia loves running, traveling, reading, and playing piano/violin.

Master of Public Administration '22 Anna Thomas is pursuing a Master's in Public Administration at the Fels Institute. She is passionate about climate justice, environmental conservation, and scientific literacy in government. Her special interests in Pennsylvania include improper shale gas extraction, nuclear waste management, and energy and climate policy. She supports the passage of the Green Amendment, per Article 1, Section 27 of the Pennsylvania Bill of Rights, in which Pennsylvanians are given the right to “clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment.”

Master of Business Administration '23 Ashley Knight is a first-year MBA student at Wharton where she is a double major in Sustainability and Finance. Before Wharton, Ashley represented Mercer as a Fellow at the World Economic Forum where she conducted sustainability research. At Mercer, she was most recently responsible for North America’s private debt business and a member of the Sustainable Opportunities Investment Committee. Before taking on the private debt role, Ashley was based in Mercer's London office where she conducted due diligence on primary private equity and debt investments. Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College where she graduated with honors and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). Ashley serves on the Executive Board of Wharton's Private Equity & Venture Capital Club.

'23 Colin Lehman is a fourth-year PhD student in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department (CBE) doing research focused on carbon mineralization, one of many strategies aimed at reducing the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Nell Pearson
Master of City Planning '23 Nell Pearson is a first-year city planning student at the Weitzman School of Design. Her interests center around urban resilience, emergency response, as well as place-based environmental policy and design solutions. Her previous research includes ecotheology at Sabbathday Lake in Maine, the last practicing Shaker Village, inclusion of informal recyclers via design interventions in Durban, South Africa, and ethnographies of environmental stewardship in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nell was selected for a 2021 Fulbright Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Award for her proposed research on equitable environmental policy. Prior to Penn, Nell worked at the Gowanus Canal Conservancy on community outreach, environmental education, and green space advocacy. She graduated from Bates College in 2020 with a double major in history and anthropology.

Master of City & Regional Planning '23 Master of Urban Spatial Analytics '23 Tristan Grupp is a City Planning and Urban Spatial Analytics student at Penn Design. His background is in international development, particularly of rainforests, agriculture, and land degradation studied through remote sensing. He has spent the last five years researching climate change policy and is fascinated by data governance, environmental protection enforcement, incentives for conservation, and land monitoring. He is currently research Europe's forest transition with economists at Wharton and forest disturbance in the Peruvian Amazon. In his free time, he is a div 1 epee fencer and enjoys running along the Schuylkill river trail.

PhD, Political Science '23 Sabrina Arias is a PhD Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania concentrating in International Relations, with a secondary concentration in American Politics. Her research engages in topics including public opinion, international cooperation, American foreign policy, and climate politics. Her dissertation examines how small and medium countries employ lobbying strategies and diplomatic capital to “punch above their weight” at the UN. Before coming to Penn, Sabrina worked in the private sector as a market research consultant, taught English in Malaysia as a Fulbright ETA, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Rutgers University.

His interests are in energy policy, energy markets, and rate designs that will allow for the efficient transition to a carbon free grid. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was a member of the rowing team, served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, and worked in Regulatory Affairs at the U.S. Enrichment Corporation in Piketon, Ohio.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine ‘24 Natalie Bauer is a first-year student at Penn Vet with an interest in climate change and how it impacts wildlife and their health. Prior to vet school, Natalie earned a master’s degree in Conservation Medicine and held a research position at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, helping track the redistribution of Australian marine species due to climate change. She hopes to integrate an understanding of climate change with her wildlife veterinary medicine career. She enjoys running, listening to music, and outdoor activities.

Prior to graduate school, he practiced architecture in San Francisco and worked on the design and construction of rammed earth buildings and art installations in California and Nepal. Oliver holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Paula Kwasniewska
Master of Environmental Studies ‘21 Paula Kwasniewska is an MES candidate concentrating in Environmental Policy. She hopes to pursue environmental policy reform at the local, national, and international level with a focus on environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources, and environmental justice. She earned an undergraduate degree from Temple University in Environmental Studies. She has been involved in climate resilient, green storm water infrastructure advocacy as well as urban agriculture stewardship within her community.

Priyanka Krishnamoorthy
Master of Business Administration ‘21 Priyanka Krishnamoorthy is a second-year Wharton MBA student from Sri Lanka. She is interested in impact investing and a just transition to a low carbon environment with a focus on developing countries. Prior to Penn, she worked as an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and as an Analyst for the State Minister of Finance in Sri Lanka. She is passionate about gender justice and responsible business in line with climate action.

Master of Business Administration ‘21 Rishika Ghosh is a second-year Wharton MBA candidate majoring in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Finance. She is Co-President of the Wharton Energy Club and VP of Careers in the Wharton Future Mobility Club. She was a Summer Associate at DTE Energy Resources and a Revenue Operations Intern at CrossnoKaye. Prior to Penn, Rishika was an onshore wind engineering program manager and a graduate of the Renewable Energy Development Program at GE’s Renewable Energy business. She holds a BS and an MS in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Cornell.

Juris Doctor ‘23 Sage Lincoln is a first-year law student at the Carey Law School where she is representative for the Environmental Law Project, National Lawyers Guild, and American Constitution Society. Prior to law school, Sage was a Communications Associate at the Urban Green Council, a NYC nonprofit focused on building energy efficiency and sustainability. She received a BA and BS in Geology, Ecology, and Urban Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and has been recognized as a Udall Scholar and a NOAA Hollings Scholar.

Master of Business Administration ‘22 Thomas Obermeier is a first-year MBA candidate at The Wharton School interested in the intersection of climate tech and finance. He is on the board of the Wharton Energy Club and a co-host of The Wharton Current, the Energy Club's podcast. Prior to Wharton, he worked for EY's Power & Utilities/Infrastructure Transaction Advisory Group. A graduate of William & Mary, he is originally from Frankfurt, Germany and fluent in German.
